a plot of ground on the right bank of the river that was said to have been given to Mucius Scaevola by the state in recognition of his heroism in the war with Porsenna (Liv. ii. 13 ; Fest. 144; Dionys. v. 35 ; de vir. ill. 12). The name was current in Augustus' time, but the location is unknown.
