The size of the country is given by Theophanes:1 the breadth one hundred "schoeni," and the length twice as much, putting the "schoenus at forty stadia;2 but his estimate is too high; it is nearer the truth to put down as length what he gives as breadth, and as breadth the half, or a little more, of what he gives as breadth. Such, then, is the nature and power of Armenia.
