[16]

At the roots of Olympus, and on the banks of the Peneus, is Gyrton, a Perrhæbic city, and Magnetis, where Pirithous and Ixion ruled. [The city] Crannon is [100 stadia] distant [from Gyrton]; and it is said that when the poet writes ‘Both from Thrace,’ we are to understand by Ephyri, the Crannonians, and by Phlegyes, the Gyrtonii.
