On measured drawings a bar scale graphically represents the amount of reduction or enlargement a drawing has undergone.

Description: A written scale --"One centimeter equals one meter", or "1cm.:1m."-- can not and does not grow and shrink proportionally with the drawing if the drawing is further reduced or enlarged. For this reason a bar scale is preferable for and used in measured drawings.
