Scotia

A concave molding found either in an approximate semi-circular shape, or less frequently, a quarter of a circle shape.

Description: A semi-circular scotia was one of the elements included in an Ionic column base, occupying the space below the torus. The less frequent quarter-circle shape could have been noted under the Doric cornice.
