BERTHA Perthshire Scotland.

Roman fort at the confluence of the Tay and Almond; the pseudo-Latin name is a 14th c. invention. Subject to riverine erosion, it measures ca. 255 by at least 150 m, but the surviving stretch of the SE rampart is of slighter build than that on the NW, and may be a late feature reducing the area of a still larger fort. The site has not been excavated, but has produced an inscription attributable to the 2d c. A.D.
