IXWORTH Suffolk, England.

Roman buildings were excavated 9.6 km NE of Bury St. Edmunds in 1849 and 1948, and air reconnaissance shows that an early fort, possibly of the Boudiccan period, was succeeded by a considerable civil settlement. The main concentration lies S of the modern village.
