PODANDOS
(Pozantl, Adana) Cappadocia, Turkey.
Hittite Paduwandaş. Small walled town on the E
bank of Çakit Suyu 15 Roman miles N of Cilician Gates
on the Via Tauri. It is situated in a rich valley and is the
nodal point for the fan of roads spreading from Tauros
over the whole of central Anatolia. A project by Valens
in A.D. 371-72 to make it capital of Cappadocia Secunda
was rejected in favor of Tyana. As Butrentum it was
known to the Crusaders.
