MARGNY
Ardennes, France.
Gallo-Roman
villa on the Franco-Belgian frontier SE of Sedan. Rectangular in plan, it has a N gallery running the length of
a complex of rooms lying on either side of a large central
hall with a hearth. One of the doors of this hall opens
onto a balneum with a hypocaust. Many metal objects
have been found (bronze doorknobs with a lion design),
as well as pottery, particularly amphorae and dolia. The
villa had a slate roof. There were several levels of occupation, dating apparently from the 2d and 3d c. A.D.
