At Le Canet, on the W bank of the Dordogne, is a Gallo-Roman villa discovered in 1922. One wing of the villa (35 x 15 m) gives onto the river, and in it seven rooms have been identified, among them two laid out as a facade gallery (26.15 x 3.40 m). The various rooms were decorated with mosaics, among which are several Early Christian themes: anchors, cross, baskets adorned with symbolic grapes; the villa can be dated in the late Empire.
