[1375] ἀλλ᾽ introduces (or answers) a supposed objection (the ὑποφορά of technical Rhetoric): Andoc. 1.148 “τίνα γὰρ καὶ ἀναβιβάσομαι δεησόμενον ὑπὲρ ἐμαυτοῦ; τὸν πατέρα; ἀλλὰ τέθνηκεν. ἀλλὰ τοὺς ἀδελφούς; ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ εἰσίν. ἀλλὰ τοὺς παῖδας; ἀλλ᾽ οὔπω γεγένηνται.”
τέκνων ὄψις ... βλαστοῦσα = ὁρώμενα τέκνα βλαστόντα: cp. Eur. Alc. 967 “Θρῄσσαις ἐν σανίσιν τὰς ι Ὀρφεία κατέγραψεν γῆρυς,” which the melodious Orpheus wrote down. ὅπως ἔβλαστε Eur. Med. 1011 “ἤγγειλας οἷ᾽ ἤγγειλας.”
