[693] πεφάνθαι ἂν oblique of πεφασμένος ἂν ἦν: for the tense cp. Isoc. Whitelaw, taking πεφάνθαι μ᾽ ἄν as oblique of πεφασμένος ἂν εἴην, defends the εἴ σε νοσφίζομαι of the MSS. by Plat. Apol. But the playful or ironical tone which εἰ with the pres. indic. gives to those passages seems hardly in place here. The change of one letter restores the required ἐνοσφιζόμαν.
