[779] ὑπερπλησθεὶς μέθῃ, lit., intoxicated by drinking (caus. dat.): μέθη always = “drinking” (not “strong wine”): cp. Hdt. 5.20 “καλῶς ἔχοντας ... μέθης” (“having had enough of drinking”). For the dat. cp. Aesch. Pers. 132 “λέκτρα ... πίμπλαται δακρύμασιν.”
