[779] ὑπερπλησθεὶς μέθῃ, lit., intoxicated by drinking （caus. dat.）: μέθη always = “drinking” （not “strong wine”）: cp. Hdt. 5.20 “καλῶς ἔχοντας ... μέθης” （“having had enough of drinking”）. For the dat. cp. Aesch. Pers. 132 “λέκτρα ... πίμπλαται δακρύμασιν.”
