[822] ἆρ᾽ἆρ᾽ οὐχὶ Where ἆρα is equivalent in sense to ἆρ᾽ οὐ, this is because it means, “are you satisfied that it is so?” i.e. “is it not abudantly clear?” (Soph. El. 614). Here, the transition from ἆρα to ἆρ᾽ οὐχὶ is from bitter irony to despairing earnest.
