δι᾽ ὤτων: El. 737ὀξὺν δι᾽ ὤτων κέλαδον ἐνσείσας θοαῖς πώλοις”: cp. O. T. 1386 f.

πρὸς δμωαῖσι, with “κλίνομαι”: a use of the dat. with “πρός” which has epic precedent, as Il. 20.420λιαζόμενον προτὶ γαίῃ”, sinking to earth: ib. 21. 507τὴν δὲ προτὶ οἷ εἷλε πατὴρ Κρονίδης”, took her to his arms: cp. O. T. 1302 n.

ἀποπλήσσομαι, as=“λιποψυχῶ”, only here: Hippocr. uses it of apoplexy.
