πίμπλησι (histor. pres., between “ἔθαλπε” and “ἐνεμεστώθη”, cp. 406), viz., with dust and scattered leaves.— αἰκίζων, maltreating, “λυμαινόμενος”, by breaking the branches and tearing off the leaves. ἐν δ᾽ ἐμεστ., tmesis: cp. 1274, El. 713 “ἐν δὲ πᾶς ἐμεστώθη δρόμος”. Distinguish the adv. “ἐν δέ” (and withal), O. T. 27 n.
