φρόνει βεβώς, bethink thee that thou art placed. O. C. 1358 “ἐν πόνῳ ι ... βεβηκώς”, n. Il. 10.173 “νῦν γὰρ δὴ πάντεσσιν ἐπὶ ξυροῦ ἵσταται ἀκμῆς, ι ἢ μάλα λυγρὸς ὄλεθρος Ἀχαιοῖς, ἠὲ βιῶναι”. H.F. 630 “ὦδ᾽ ἔβητ᾽ ἐπὶ ξυροῦ”; Helen. 897 “ἐπ᾽ ἀκμῆς εἰμὶ κατθανόντ᾽ ἰδεῖν.” τύχης, interpreting “ξυροῦ”, adds dignity and solemnity to the phrase.
