παῦρα need not be taken as= “παῦροι” (like “τὰ χρηστὰ” for “τὰς χρηστὰς” in El. 972, “τὰ..πανοῦργα” in Ph. 448, etc.). The sense is simply, ‘few helpful things,’— few resources.
