ὄφελε: the unaugmented form is frequent in Homer: e.g. Od. 5. 308“ὡς δὴ ἐγώ γ᾽ ὄφελον θανέειν.” αἰθέρα δῦναι μέγαν, i.e., vanish into the depths of the sky, as if caught up by “ἅρπυιαι”: cp. Eur. Or. 1375“πᾷ φύγω, ξέναι”, | “πολιὸν αἰθέρ᾽ ἀμπτάμενος ἢ πόντον;” πολύκοινον Ἅιδαν: El. 137“Ἀΐδα ι παγκοίνου λίμνας” (n.).
