τὸ πρῶτον, adv., in the first place. The omission of “ὅτι” after “ἀγγεῖλαι” marks the speaker's eager haste: cp. O.T. 1234 f. “ὁ μὲν τάχιστος τῶν λόγων εἰπεῖν τε καὶ ι μαθεῖν, τέθνηκε θεῖον Ἰοκάστης κάρα”. For τὸ πρῶτον, compare also Ant. 238, Tr. 232: Ar. Eq. 642“λόγους ἀγαθοὺς φέρων ι εὐαγγελίσασθαι πρῶτον ὑμῖν βούλομαι”.
