ἐν αἰκίαις: “ἐν” denotes the manner; cp. O. C. 1682ἐν ἀφανεῖ τινι μόρῳ φερόμενον”. The penultimate of “αἰκία” is always long (511, O. C. 515: P.V. 93, 178, 600: Eur. Bacch. 1374).
