Ἀΐδᾳ πάρα κείμενος. Cp. O. T. 972κεῖται παρ᾽ Ἅιδῃ Πόλνβος”. This mode of writing is preferable to παρακείμενος because “παρακεῖσθαί τινι”=‘to lie beside one,’ or ‘before one,’ with ref. to things which are ready to one's hand, or at one's disposal. But when the sense is, ‘to be lodged or deposited with one,’ “κεῖσθαι παρά τινι” is used.
