ἐπιφραζόμενος: H. unites a finite verb with a participle frequently, perhaps for emphasis (cf. 129. 1).

The son of Croesus became a proverb for silence, just as Croesus himself did for self-inflicted misfortunes (P. G. ii. 686).


ἀμφὶς ἔμμεναι = abesse.
