ἐπιστρατείᾳ—cf. ἐπίπλους c. 17, 4. Thuc. would have written τοῖς Πλαταιεῦσι were it not for the proximity of so many datives. Cf. ἐπιβοήθεια τῇ νήσῳ III. 51; ἐπιδρομὴν τῷ τειχίσματι IV. 23; for the obj. = gen. cf. VII. 70 τῶν υὲν φυλακὴν τῶν δ᾽ ἑπιβουλήν. Βοττιαίους—in the N.W. of Chalcidice, which was called Βοττική. ἀκμάζοντος—c. 19, 1.
