Παναθἡναια—Gardner and Jevons, p. 287. ἐν ὅπλοιςξὺν ὅπλοις is often used in this sense. According to Ath. Pol. this story about the arms is wrong, οὐ γὰρ ἔπεμπον τότε μεθ̓ ὅπλων, ἀλλ̓ ὕστερον τοῦτο κατεσκεύασεν δῆμος.
