οὐκέτι οὐδὲν κ.τ.λ.—the object of this emphatic statement is to show that now the deciding struggle—the ἀγὼν μέγιστος—was at hand.
δ᾽ οὖν—resumes from c. 56. καλὸν ἀγώνισμα . . . εἶναι—cf. c. 56.2; 86. ἐπὶ—as a consequence of. ἑλεῖν τε τὸ ς.—to capture the whole of that vast army, στρατόπεδον being the besicging force wherever it was stationed. μηδὲ καθ᾽ ἕτερα = κατὰ μηδέτερα.
l 10. ἔκλῃον — apparently they left a narrow opening (διέκπλους) which was guarded by chains. ἢν—in case, like εἴ πως, εἰ ἄρα. ὀλίγον οὐδὲν κ.τ λ.—cf. II. 8 ὀλίγον ἐπενόουν οὐδὲν ἀμφότεροι; Aristoph. Eq. 387 μηδὲν ὀλίγον ποίει. νῦν γὰρ ἔχεται μέσος; Plut. Demetr. 43 μικρὸν οὐδὲν ἔτι ἐφρόνουν.
