περί τε . . . διεφθείροντο—cf. πίπτειν, πταίειν and σφάλλεσθαι περὶ with dat.; but the construction is poetical and Ionic. σκεύεσιν—accoutrements. ἐμπαλασσόμενοι = ἐμπλεκόμενοι. The word occurs nowhere else in Attic.
