εὐθὺς should probably be joined with the participle, ‘immediately that D arrived.’ The position of the word, however, is somewhat against this. παρεξελθόντος ‘having completed (ἐξ-) his march along the coast.’. ἐν τῷ Ἑλλησπόντῳ. e)n as Poppo observes, because ‘the Hellespont’ is the name of a district.
