REMORA

the name which Remus would have given to Rome if he had been its founder (Enn. frg. 77 (Vahlen): certabant urbem Romam Remoramve vocarent). This is probably a mere variant for REMORIA (q.v.), required by the metre (Mommsen, Hist. Schr. i. 15. a. 2; Glotta i. 294).
