a hospital established by Gregory the Great, near the steps of S. Peter's. It is known only from one passage, of perhaps doubtful value (Petrus Mallius de basil. Vat. 4; Cancellieri de secretariis ii. 733; Kehr i. 149; Arm. 762, 770; cf. Gregor. Magn. reg. ix. 63; LPD ii. 195; HCh 258, 259; DAP 2. x. 31).
