PRAENESTIUS COLLIS
a late name for the mons Caelius, occurring only
once in extant literature (Lydus, de mens. iv. 115; HJ 229; Wissowa,
Ges. Abh. 233). Like
TIBURTIUS COLLIS (q.v.) it is derived from the name
of a gate (porta Praenestina) of the Aurelian wall, and is an antiquarian's
invention.
