[811] The tomb of Myrine, like that of Aisyetes, is not again named in the Iliad; but both names are probably traditional, and do not look like the invention of an interpolator. Myrine is said to have been one of the Amazons who invaded Phrygia (3.189). She is evidently the eponym of the Aiolic town Myrina; Kyme and Smyrna equally derived their names from Amazons, Strabo 550, 623, 633. For the language of gods and men see 1.403; “τὴν μὲν δημωδεστέραν ἀνθρώποις τὴν δὲ ἀληθῆ θεοῖς προσάπτει”, Schol.
