[66] This (apart from the spurious Od. 5.337) is the only place where we cannot read “ϝεϝικυῖα” for “εἰκυῖα”. The word here may represent “ϝικυῖα”, on the false analogy of “ϝιδυῖα”, which MSS. almost invariably turn into “εἰδυῖα” (see note on 1.365). Brandreth puts a colon after 65 and reads “ἐϝέϝικτο”, Fick “καλὰ ϝεϝοίκει. αὐτῶι,” the real (living) man. The thought here implied gives the reference to τοῖα, such as the living man wore.
