[57] The note of interrogation after Τρώων is shewn to be Aristarchean by the remark of Herodian that the “” is “διαπορητικός”, interrogative. On the whole it is more Homeric to have two consecutive questions in a case like this than a question followed by an indignant exclamation: 14.265, 15.245, Od. 16.424, Od. 17.376 (Hentze). ἄριστα is not an adv. but subject to “πεποίηται”, for the impersonal “ποιεῖταί τινι κακῶς” is not Homeric.
