ῥοπα^λ-ικός , ή, όν, a club, i.e. thicker towards the end: hence, versus rhopalicus, a verse in which each word is one syllable longer than that before (such as Il.3.182), Serv. in Gramm.Lat.4.467K. (rhopalius Sacerd.ib.6.505K.).
