I. Pass., prayed to or entreated, Ζεὺς ., = ἱκέσιος, S.Ph.1182 (lyr.).
2. prayed against, accursed,γονάA.Ag.1565 (lyr.); “πότμος . ἐκ πατρόςId.Th.898 (lyr.); μ᾽ ἀραῖον ἔλαβες you adjured me under a curse, S. OT276.
II. Act., cursing, bringing mischief upon, c. dat., “φθόγγος . οἴκοιςA.Ag.237 (lyr.); “δόμοις .S.OT1291, cf. E.Med.608, IT 778; “. γονεὺς ἐκγόνοις ὡς οὐδεὶς ἕτερος ἄλλοςPl.Lg.931c: abs., A. Ag.1398, S.Tr.1202.—Almost confined to Trag., exc. Pl.l.c.
