A.good-hearted, simple-minded, guileless, Pl.R.349b; of swans, Arist.HA615a33; -έστεροι, opp. πανουργότατοι, Lys.3.44; τὸ εὔηθες, = εὐήθεια, Th.3.83.
b. of a courtesan, of easy virtue, Archil.19.
2. in bad sense, simple, silly, “πρῆγμα εὐηθέστατονHdt.1.60; μῦθος, λόγος, Id.2.45, Pl.Lg.818b (Sup.); ἥψατο πρῶτον τοῦ-εστάτου attacked the silliest argument first, Arist.Rh.1418b23; “κακοήθης δ᾽ ὢν τοῦτο παντελῶς εὔηθες ᾠήθηςD.18.11; τὸ τῶν προβάτων ἦθος εὔ. Arist.HA610b23: as Subst., simpleton, X.HG2.3.16; εὔηθές [ἐστι] c. inf., it is simple, foolish, absurd, Arist. Metaph.1062b34, cf. Democr.67; λίαν εὔ. Arist.APo.88b17.
3. metaph., of wounds or illnesses, mild, easily treated, opp. κακοήθης (malignant), Hp.VM8: Comp., Id.Prorrh.1.98: Sup., Id.Prog. 20.
