2. of the voice, clear, distinct, far-sounding, Pi.P.4.283.
3. splendid, brilliant, ἀρεταί, θυσίαι, Id.N.7.51, I.5(4).30; “κρηπὶς ἐλευθερίαςId.Fr.77.—Very rare in Prose, ἐν τοῖς φαεινοῖς χρόνοις, of clear nights, Aen.Tact.25.2; Φάεννος is pr. n. at Rhodes, Chron.Lind. B.34.
