ἀκρωτηριάζω from ἀκρωτήριον

to cut off the extremities, mutilate, τὰς πρῴρας ἠκρωτηρίασαν cut the beaks off the prows, Hdt.:—so in Mid., τὰς τριήρεις ἀκρωτηριασάμενοι Xen.; perf. pass. in mid. sense, ἠκρωτηριασμένοι τὰς πατρίδας having mutilated their countries, Dem.
