II.Mid., mostly in aor1, to thrust or push from oneself, push or force back, repulse, esp. in battle, τείχεος ἂψ ὤσασθαι Il.; ὤσασθαι προτὶ Ἴλιον, προτὶ ἄστυ id=Il.; ὤσασθαι τὴν ἵππον Hdt.; ὠσαμένων τὸ κέρας Thuc.
III.Pass. to be thrust on, to fall violently, ἐπὶ κεφαλήν Hdt.; πρὸς βίαν Eur. force one's way, Xen., Plat.: to crowd on, throng, like ὠστίζομαι, Xen.
