ἄκρον neut. of ἄκρος

I.the highest or furthest point:
1.a mountain-top, peak, Hom., etc.
2.a headland, foreland, cape, Od.
3.an end, extremity, Plat.; ἄκρα χειρῶν the hands, Luc.
II.metaph. the highest pitch, height, Pind.; εἰς ἄκρον exceedingly, Theocr.; τὰ ἄκρα τοῖς ἄκροις ἀποδιδόναι the highest place to the highest men, Plat.; ἄκρα φέρεσθαι to win the prize, Theocr.
2.of persons, Ἄργεος ἄκρα the oldest rulers of Argos, id=Theocr.
