3.blood shed in murder, gore, ἂμ φόνον, ἂν νέκυας Il.; also, ἐρυγόμενοι φόνον αἵματος clots of blood, Aesch., etc.
= φόνιον αἷμα, id=Aesch.; ἐμοῦσα θρόμβους φόνου vomiting
II.of the agent of slaughter, φόνον ἔμμεναι ἡρώεσσι to be a death to heroes, Il.; φόνος γενέσθαι τινί Od.
