2.an end, object, purpose, Pind.
II.like τεκμήριον, a fixed sign, sure sign or token, as Zeus says that his nod is μέγιστον τέκμωρ ἐξ ἐμέθεν the highest, surest pledge I can give, Il.; ἦν δ᾽ οὐδὲν αὐτοῖς οὔτε χειμῶνος τ. οὔτ᾽ ἦρος Aesch., etc.
