I. An exclamation of grief or pain, oh! ah! alas! heu heu, quam ego malis perdidi modis, quod tibi detuli et quod dedi! Plaut. Ps. 1, 3, 26: “quatenus, heu nefas! Virtutem incolumem odimus,Hor.
