[200] Lesbides. Sappho calls upon the Lesbian maids, whom she had formerly loved and taught. Critics have observed, that the repetition here used by the poet, is not only in tended to make the scene more affecting, but is also an imitation of Sappho's manner of writing; for she took great delight in this figure.
