Et Thetidi quales vix rear esse pedes. Thetis was a sea-goddess, the daughter of Nereus, and mother to Achilles. She was particulaily remarkable for the whiteness of her feet; insomuch that Homer gives her the epithet, ἀργυρόπεζα, argenteos habens pedes, the silver-footed goddess.
