Tauais; a river of Scythia, that divides Europe from Asia. It runs from north to south, and empties itself into the Palus Maeotis, called now the Sea of Asof.Scythiaeque. Scythia was a great northern region, one part of which belonged to Europe, the other to Asia. This is spoken with indignation against Medea, whom she represents as a mora suitable wife for a barbarian than for a Greek.
