Auceps

A bird-catcher or fowler, whose occupation was called aucupium (avis+capio). The fowlers used for catching birds gins and snares (laquei, pedicae), rods tipped with bird-lime (arundines, calami), nets held by two parallel rods (amites), and traps (transennae).
