Κώης). An inhabitant of Mitylené who dissuaded Darius Hystaspis, in his Scythian expedition, from breaking up his bridge of boats over the Danube. Darius made him tyrant of Mitylené. On the outbreak of the Ionian revolt against the Persians (B.C. 501), he was stoned to death by the people of Mitylené. See Darius.
