Creophȳlus

Κρεώφυλος) of Chios. One of the earliest epic poets, and said to have been the friend or son-in-law of Homer (Repub. 600 C; Plut. Lyc.). An epic poem has been ascribed to him, entitled Οἰχαλίας ἅλωσις or Οἰχαλία, relating the contest of Heracles with Eurytus for the sake of Iolé, and the capture of Oechalia.
